Kirby will be performing an outdoor concert in GL on Thursday

Singer, songwriter, guitarist, storyteller, sailor and street fighter are all words that describe Scott Kirby.

Kirby is playing Thursday, June 30 at the Havey Lot, 475 Lake St. at 7 p.m

Writing songs for a new CD, performing 150 live shows a year across the United States and Canada, and holding the stage at his club – Key West’s Smokin’ Tuna Saloon – keep this modern-day troubadour away from barnacles.

A lyricist and fingerstyle acoustic guitarist, Kirby describes himself as a direct descendant of the singer/songwriter movement of the ’70s.

When it comes to songwriting, Kirby respects authenticity and draws on everyday life and his coastal roots for much of his inspiration.

“I don’t wake up every day thinking about writing the next commercial hit,” Kirby said. “For me, songwriting is about telling stories, expressing emotions and commenting on things that I find funny or absurd.”

This event is supported by Mike and Jill Havey and Havey Communications.

Tickets for Kirby’s performance cost $25 and are available at www.thrasheroperahouse.com or by calling 920-294-4279.
