Every way to enjoy the 4th of July fireworks display north of Boston in 2022

The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular is back. After two years of COVID cancellations, the entire event is set to return to the Esplanade and our TV screens on July 4th. Keith Lockhart will conduct and guest artists include music icon Chaka Khan, singer and Broadway star Heather Headley, singer-songwriter Javier Colon and Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes and Drums.

The concert starts at 8 p.m., the fireworks will be shot off at 10:30 p.m. Those wanting to compete for a spot on the Esplanade open at 12 p.m., but you can also catch the spectacle from the couch: the spectacle will be televised on Bloomberg Television and Boston’s WHDH-TV.

Want an in-person show without the trek to Boston? The North Shore area offers more than a dozen fireworks shows scheduled for the holiday weekend.

July 1

Start the bank holiday weekend with a fireworks display at Riverside Park in Haverhill. The event begins at 5pm with performances by two live bands before the main attraction takes off into the skies.

And over

Andover kicks off its holiday weekend with a Saturday night fireworks display at the local high school. If you need more holiday cheer, come back on Monday for a pancake breakfast and parade.

Salem’s fireworks spectacle is accompanied by the music of the 42-strong Hillyer Festival Orchestra. Arrive early to secure your spot and enjoy an array of events including live reggae, kids’ crafts, Salem High School singers and more.

Salem, New Hampshire

Tuscan Village in Salem, New Hampshire begins at 10:00 am with the opening of the property’s beer garden and food trucks. Live music and face painting begin at 4:00 p.m., and visitors are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets and set up for the fun.

Salisbury

Arrive early to enjoy an oceanfront performance of the Lisa Love Experience and stay for the 20-minute fireworks display.

3rd of July

Gloucester

Gloucester’s 3rd of July fireworks display is a city institution, lighting up the sky after a waterfront concert on Stacey Boulevard and the annual Gloucester Horribles Parade (which starts at 6pm). Families are welcome to put up blankets and enjoy a full evening of Independence Day celebrations, with parking at Gloucester High School.

Lynn

Watch the fireworks over Nahant Bay from a seat in Red Rock Park, King’s Beach, or along Lynn Shore Drive in Lynn or Humphrey Street in Swampscott.

Manchester

Manchester offers a traditional small town Fourth of July celebration. A concert begins the evening at 7pm, followed by fireworks after dark. The beach car park is reserved for disabled parking so plan accordingly.

July 4th

Amesbury

The Fourth of July fireworks crown Amesbury Days, a nearly two-week celebration in the city. Live music starts at 7pm and food is provided by vendors including Big Rig BBQ, Monstah Dawgs, GKK Concessions and Hodgie’s Ice Cream.

Beverly Farms/ Prides Crossing

Thousands of people flock to West Beach and the surrounding waters each year to see the traditional fireworks show and see torches light up the shoreline. A bracelet $15 in advance, $20 on the day is required to enter the beach for sightseeing. More details available online.

After a two-year hiatus, Marblehead’s annual fireworks show returns this year. At 9pm a series of torches are lit illuminating the harbor followed by a fireworks display.

Salisbury

Salisbury reappears on the list at 7:30pm with a beach concert featuring popular covers by local band Joppa Flatts, followed by fireworks.

Wakefield

Wakefield’s fireworks display caps a day of celebrations including a fishing derby; pet, doll pram and bicycle parades; canoe and kayak races; and a visit from the Oscar Meyer Weinermobil. The city’s 75th Independence Day Parade begins at 5:00 p.m. and live music begins at 6:00 p.m., followed by fireworks.
