15th & Olive LIVE! To get presented

The Calloway County Tourism Commission and Murray State University are sponsoring the first 15th & Olive LIVE! as part of the Freedom Fest from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Olive Boulevard is closed from 14th Street to the corner of 15th Street from 3pm-9pm. Also closed is 15th Street in Olive and in front of the Pogue Library. Roadblocks are erected. Murray State parking lots in this area will be open to the public.

Road closures for the Freedom Fest Parade

The Murray Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced the street closures schedule for the July 4 Freedom Fest Parade, which begins at 9:30 a.m. from 10th Street and heads down Main Street. Streets are closed from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and include Main Street between 10th and Industrial Streets; North 10th Street from Chestnut to Main Streets; Olive Boulevard from North 12th Street to Eighth Street; Sharpe Street from North 12th to Eighth Street; Payne Street from 12th Street to Eighth Street; and Walnut Street at 10th Street.

MWC holds board meeting

The Murray Woman’s Club will hold its board meeting on July 11th at 5:30pm in the clubhouse. At 4:30 p.m., department chairs, vice chairs, treasurers, and secretaries meet to prepare for the upcoming club year. President Dee Morgan encourages all board members and department heads to attend.

MAG Art Center Summer Art Party

The MAG Community Art Center is hosting its free Community Summer Art Party and Member Registration Drive on Friday, July 1 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Live music from The Hashbrowns and ice cream from the TMB Ice Cream Machine. Taylor Memorial Breakfast planned

Boy Scout Troop 45 is hosting the annual Gary Taylor Memorial Breakfast at Murray First United Methodist Church on Monday, July 4th from 7am to 10am. Tickets are available in advance, $10 for adults and $8 for children under 12. Tickets are available at the box office. First responders in uniform are free. Tickets can be purchased at the church during office hours or from any member of Boy Scout Troop 45.

Need Line is asking for fan donations

Need Line is asking fans to donate to families in Murray and Calloway County who don’t have a chance to cool off during the summer. New fans can be dropped off at 509 N. 8th St. Monday through Friday, June 1 through August 1, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 1.

The Conquer Chiari Walk Across America will take place on September 17th at Roy Stewart Stadium. Registration is at 3pm and the walk starts at 4pm. A run, walk or 3 km roll is offered. T-shirts will be provided for pre-registered hikers who have raised at least $40. Participants must register by June to guarantee a t-shirt. MWC holds annual general meetings on July 14th

Murray Woman’s Club President Dee Morgan has called two special general club meetings to be held back-to-back on Thursday, July 14, beginning at 4:30 p.m. The meetings serve the purpose of repealing the current Bylaws and Bylaws of the Murray Woman’s Club and adopting proposed new bylaws. After the two general meetings, the board of directors meets to adopt rules of procedure. All members are encouraged to participate.

Dexter/Almo Water District meet

The Dexter-Almo Heights Water District will meet Thursday, July 7 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be a video conference call with the main location at the Dexter-Almo Heights Water District Office at 351 Almo Road. The public can attend the meeting at this location and see all members of the Board of Commissioners attending the meeting.

Story Hour held at First Baptist

Children are invited to attend the Story Hour at First Baptist Church Library every Thursday in July from 9-10am for children ages 2 through Pre-K (with parents); 10-11 a.m. for K-2; and 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. for grades 3-5. Christian fiction and nonfiction, children’s and teenage books, and adult and teenage Bible study sets are available. The opening times are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
