
In July 2022 there’s no shortage of things to do in and around Franklin County. Here is a selection of events to add to your social calendar, sorted by date:
Waynesboro Summer Anniversary
When: Monday, July 4th
Where: 500 E. Main St., Waynesboro
Entry: Free
A host of events are planned for the Waynesboro Summer Jubilee, starting at 8am and progressing through the fireworks at dusk.
A 1-mile kids run at 7:15am and the Firecracker 5K at 7:45am start the day. Registration is from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m

Back in time:MA Foltz was a man with a vision for Chambersburg
The Brothers of the Brush July 4th parade begins at 9:30 am. Main Street’s route runs from CV Avenue to Enterprise Avenue.
The Waynesboro Summer Jubilee includes the Kid’s Zone, food and craft vendors, and live entertainment.
The performance schedule includes 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., The South Mountain Breed; 6pm to 7:15pm, Lucky Punk; and 7:40 p.m. til dusk, Ruthie Collins.

Sidewalk Days in Greencastle
When: Friday, July 8, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 9, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m
Where: Downtown Greencastle

Downtown Greencastle comes alive for shopping during the 55th annual Sidewalk Days. There is also plenty of good food, varied entertainment and a Kids Zone.
“The chamber is pleased about the enormous response from the providers. We have very few stands left,” said Debby Cunningham, Managing Director of the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce, which organizes Sidewalk Days. “We have a good mix of community groups, businesses, groceries and many participating retailers. In addition to street vendors, downtown shops will be open and there are “pop-up” shops in the Aura building. A special feature this year is the Army National Guard climbing wall. It will be in the car park of Greencastle Church of the Brethren for everyone aged 14 to 75.”
In the Kids’ Zone, located at Greencastle Presbyterian Church, the Cumberland Valley School of Music will be offering a take-home musical craft on Saturday from 10:30am to 12pm, followed by a Balloon Twister from 12:30pm to 2pm :00 am Other times games will be set up and available for children to play.
Entertainment on Friday includes CVSM student performances at 3:00 p.m., the Back Creek Valley Boys at 4:00 p.m. and Runaway Train at 6:15 p.m. A Barb and Friends puppet show begins Saturday entertainment at 9:00 a.m. and Evan Crider performs at 1:00 p.m
Momentum Martial Arts, Rockstar Cheer and Majestic Cheer performances are regularly held throughout the two days.

Franklin County Fair
When: Sunday 10th July to Saturday 16th July
Where: Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club, 3725 Warm Spring Road
Entry: $5 per car Monday through Thursday 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.; $10 per car 3pm to 9pm Friday and Saturday
Franklin County’s annual Farming Show will feature live music, events, exhibits, competitions, food vendors and children’s entertainment including Baby Barnyard and Shane the Balloon Guy and Magician.
This year’s theme is “Working together to keep the tradition alive!”
The food stalls open at 5 p.m. on Sunday and at 4 p.mth The annual Vespers service with Daystar gospel music begins at 6:00 p.m
The food stalls are open the rest of the week from 10am to 10pm.
There are daily farming competitions and nightly entertainment including fair royalty competitions on Mondays; David King’s “Elvis the Tribute” on Tuesday; True Blue Tour with Joe Quick on Wednesday; 80’s Tribute Band Thursday; the talent show on Friday; and Park Avenue Saturday.
Also headlining will be the Interstate Truck and Tractor Pull on Friday nights and Bull Mania on Saturday nights.

Historical tours of downtown Mercersburg
When: Monday 11, 18 and 25 July at 6:30 p.m
Where: Meet at the Fendrick Library on Main Street
Entry: Free
The tours are offered by the Mercersburg Historical Society. The content and itinerary are the same for each tour, so those who wish to join can choose which evening to join.

Ice Cream Social & Book Sale
Where: Blue Ridge Summit Free Library, 13767 Monterey Lanei.e summit place
When: Saturday, July 16, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m
Entry: Free
In addition to books for all ages, the day features music, food, drinks, a bake sale, face painting, plants, artists, authors and fire engine rides.
Jess the Reptile Guy provides interactive fun with snakes, lizards, turtles and crocodiles.
The BRS Fun Run will also take place on July 16, with registration at 7:30 p.m. and start at 8:00 a.m

“Kiss the Ground” performance
When: Thursday, July 21, 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m
Where: Warfield Allen Auditorium, Wilson College, Chambersburg
Entry: Free
Wilson College and Healthy Franklin County will host the screening of the documentary “Kiss the Ground.”
Narrated by Woody Harrelson, the documentary sheds light on a “new, old approach” to agriculture called regenerative agriculture, a practice with the ability to balance the climate and feed the world.
The screening will be followed by discussions and giveaways.
