Comedic Murder Mystery Company brings unique team building approach to group entertainment
– Rebekah Tucker
UNITED STATES, Nov. 17, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — It’s not about true crime. It’s not about being the detective. It’s about building a community, uniting people in a shared, very fun experience. After over 20 years in the party entertainment world, The Jest Murder Mystery Company has discovered that there’s no better pairing than audience participation and laughter when it comes to bringing groups together.
When the show begins, the room will be filled with many groups and individuals who may have little in common other than closeness. But by the end of the event, they will have supported and encouraged each other, created together, laughed together and now have something in common to talk about for years to come.
This new take on crime dinner theater was the brainchild of writer, director, actor, and entrepreneur Randy Manning. Before founding Jest, Manning performed crime dramas with many other crime dinner theater companies. He believed he could write a funnier show that focused a little less on mystery and a lot more on the audience’s experience. Inspired, he wrote his first show, A Fistful of Hollers, and put it to the test at his next family reunion (picture attached). “My recipe worked! Everyone had so much fun playing their roles and working together to solve the crime,” said Manning.
After some adjustments, Manning created a show that featured a themed storyline with room for audience improvisation and adaptation. Manning: “I realized that as an actor I could make the audience laugh and it would be fun, but if the viewers could be the stars of their own show, it would have been really an unforgettable experience to be able to laugh so much and cry kind of.” Experience.”
With that principle firmly in place, Manning founded Jest Mysteries (now Jest Murder Mystery Company) in 1999 and has been bringing murder groups together across the country ever since. Jest now has traveling troops in Los Angeles, Chicago, Cedar Rapids, New York, Cape Cod, Miami, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Denver, St. Louis, Atlanta and more. Shows can be booked anywhere in the US and Canada. Virtual shows include the same audience participation as in-person shows and are performed for groups around the world.
Manning retired in 2017, leaving his daughter Leslie Franklin to lead the Jest empire. Jest’s commitment to quality entertainment hasn’t diminished. “We audition rigorously to ensure we have the best actors available and we train them to help audiences shine. The talent in our squad is incredible and makes the shows so much better. We really have a great team and I’m blessed to be a part of it.” Franklin said.
Thanks to plenty of creativity and hard work, this woman-led, family-run success story is now recognized as the funniest crime company in the country. customers agree. Rebecca Tucker said in a recent Google review, “We used Jest Murder Mystery for our team Christmas event in December and we had a blast!
