There are a variety of events for Lake Travis-Westlake residents to celebrate the holidays, from ice skating at the Hill Country Galleria to photos with Santa. Here are eight events in the region to help Christmas come early this season.

Dec 16-16 Go ice skating

Bee Cave will have its first-ever ice rink at the Hill Country Galleria. The ice rink will be open seven days a week and can hold up to 120 people at a time. Each ticket includes skate rental and a 75-minute ice skating session. Reservations are open and will be posted on both the City of Bee Cave website and the Hill Country Galleria. 27 Light up a Christmas tree

The 56th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony for the Zilker Park Christmas Tree is taking place at the end of November this year. The tree is 155 feet tall with 3,309 lights and a double star measuring 10 feet from point to point. Before the ceremony begins, pre-event music will be played. 01 to 16 Write a letter to Santa Claus

Hosted by the Steiner Ranch Homeowners Association, parents can help their child write a letter to Santa and have Santa’s elves write back. Return addresses are recommended. After making their Christmas wish list, children can drop off their letters at the Red Santa Mailbox next to the front door of the HOA office in Towne Square between 8am and 4pm weekdays through December 16th. 02 Light up the night

Kick off the holiday season in Lakeway by attending the first lighting of the Trail of Lights behind City Hall. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to help connect the Trail of Lights display. Afterwards, guests are invited to the City Hall parking lot to decorate cookies, roast marshmallows by the fire pit, and play games. 02 to 04 Watch a classic

The TexArts Theater celebrates the holiday season with a performance of The Nutcracker, which features a mix of ballet, tap and jazz. Different times. $20. 2300 Lohmans Spur Road, Ste. 160, Seaway. 512-634-8589.

03 Running during the holidays

The Jingle Bell 5K, hosted by the Bee Cave Chamber of Commerce, will include a 5K Fun Run and a Kids Dash. 03 Be happy

Merry Making is a family-friendly event featuring crafts, prizes, storytelling, live guitar music and pony petting, hosted by the Bee Cave Public Library. 04 Experience the wonderful festival

The Westlake Chamber of Commerce is hosting Wonderfest featuring Santa, performances by local elementary school choirs and free hamburgers from Hat Creek Burger Co. There will also be face painters, balloon artists, a photo booth, petting zoo, bouncy castle and more on the Holiday Express train. 1pm-4pm Free (admission). 04 Sing along to Christmas carols

The Lakeway Sing Along will perform its 22nd annual Christmas show. This year’s Once Upon a December production focuses on popular songs from animated holiday movies. The group consists of over 70 music lovers from the Lakeway area. There will also be cookies and a chance to meet Santa and Mrs Claus.
