Carved is a family-friendly event for all ages. For three weeks in October, thousands of carved pumpkins will line the camellia forest. This year’s event is going to be bigger and better than before, with all sorts of new activities and activations. Along with the pumpkins are the return of the ever-popular Pumpkin House, Hay Maze, and festive food and drink. Guests can also enjoy glow-in-the-dark face painting and UV “black light” experiences, artists sculpting gourds, and a special Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) installation in the amphitheater. Carved is a rain or shine event. Dress appropriately and bring an umbrella if needed. Every person, even under 2 years old, needs a time ticket. Join natural dyer and educator Erin Berkowitz of Berbo Studio in an interactive family collecting and dyeing workshop where participants will learn a bunch dyeing technique and create wearable art with plants that are both beautiful and environmentally responsible. From 7 years. The fee includes all consumables for adults and children. Light garden snacks and drinks included. This workshop takes place outdoors in the Ranch Garden (behind the Children’s Garden), so please dress appropriately. Registration includes free entry to The Huntington after the workshop.
